SEK-Qatar Grade 3

Adventures Around Our City

Grade 3’s first field trip of the year was a roaring success! Thanks to everyone for helping to make everything run smoothly. We really hope that every student enjoyed themselves and took something valuable away from the day.

First off, we headed for Katara where we got down to exploring straight away. Students had to work together to search for various clues which helped them to complete their activity booklets.

Next up was the Corniche and some much needed refreshments after all the hard work and energy spent during our first stop.
We got to enjoy some relaxing time in the shade with lunch and games to keep us entertained.

Lastly, we made our way to Doha’s cultural centre, Souq Waqif. Here, we were able to stroll through the different avenues discovering what each corner of the market had to offer. Students also got a chance to display their artistic side as they sketched some of the architecture that was all around them, watch out Da Vinci!

Have a look at how we got on below and please comment as much as you like!

Also, if you have pictures from the trip that you would like to share then why not bring them in or send them via email.

Huge thanks to Doha Bus for accommodating us and also to everyone who helped us out on the day.
Looking forward to the next trip already! 🙂

New Year, New Grade 3!

Hello Parents and Students and welcome to our Grade 3 blog. Here you will be able to check in on what we have been covering in class and see our classes in action. Comments are more than welcome on any post so please feel free to share your thoughts with us.

As we are sure you are aware, our current Unit of Inquiry is called ‘Our Place In The World’. We have been exploring this concept from a range of different perspectives over the past few weeks. We have been really impressed by the students’ appetite for learning and making sure to balance our work with some fun activities. Have a look at the photos below to see how we got on during some of our data collection tasks where we explored our school; including visits to different areas of the school building and also to other grade level classrooms.

Stay tuned for more updates from SEK’s newest Grade 3 team and thank you for your support!

Buddy reading with Brilliant Bunnies!

Every Sunday at 8am, the children from the Sparking Jewels class go downstairs to read with their buddies, the Brilliant Bunnies. The Sparkling Jewels children are working on their expression, phrasing and fluency so that their reading is interesting to listen to. The Bunnies love listening to stories and also have the chance to read their book to their big buddy. The Grade 3 children are doing so well with encouraging the little ones!!

Fun with Mr Fran!

The Sparkling Jewels and Shiny Minions were lucky enough to have some sessions with Mr Fran at the end of the term. Mr Fran came to Ms Nikki’s class to work with the Probots during our area and perimeter lessons then we all got together to do the ‘Hour of Code’ in the last week.   We love using technology in our classrooms!
